Who Am I ?

My name is Dan. I graduated with a Master of Science degree in cybersecurity (GPA 4.0) and am currently Security+ and Network+ certified. In my free time, I continue studying and researching. I discovered my passion for cybersecurity from one of my undergraduate professors at the University of Maryland.

What is Cybersecurity?

Cybersecurity is the protection of computer systems from the theft and damage to their hardware, software or information, as well as from disruption or misdirection of the services they provide. It is the state of being protected against the criminal or unauthorized use of electronic data, or the measures taken to achieve this.

In time, this Web site will accumulate more and more cybersecurity content. You may navigate by clicking on the different categories at the top, by entering search terms in the search box, or by simply reading my latest posts on the home page.

The tertiary goals of my web site are:

  1. Teach about cybersecurity, network security, technology, and any related domain,
  2. Use it as a platform to advertise who I am, and
  3. Contribute; give something back.

My Hopes

It’s my hope with creating this Web site that I will spark your interest in cybersecurity, just as my undergraudate professor did for me. You’ll learn a lot of interesting things stemming from a wide range of cybersecurity topics. And, with a world so heavily dependent on cybersecurity, why wouldn’t you be excited to learn? Some of the topics this Web site covers are:

  • Network security
  • Compliance
  • Operational security
  • Application security
  • Data protection
  • Host security
  • Threats
  • Vulnerabilities
  • Risk
  • Technical controls
  • Management controls
  • Operational controls
  • Access control
  • Identity management
  • Authentication
  • Authorization
  • Wi-Fi security
  • Crytography
  • and more…
